THE COURT OF AVA having refused to make amends for the injuries
and insults which British subjects had suffered at the hands of its servants,
the Governor General of India in Council resolved to exact reparation by
force of arms.
The Forts and Cities upon the Coast were forthwith attacked and
captured ; the Burman forces have been dispersed wherever they have
been met; and the Province of PEGU is now in the occupation of British
troops.
The just and moderate demands of the Government of India have
been rejected by the King: The ample opportunity that has been afforded
him for repairing the injury that was done, has been disregarded ; and the
timely submission which alone could have been effectual to prevent the
dismemberment of his kingdom, is still withheld.
Wherefore, in compensation for the past, and for better security in
the future, the Governor General in Council has resolved, and hereby
Proclaims, that the Province of PEGU is now, and shall be henceforth, a
portion of the British Territories in the East.
Such Burman troops as may still remain within the Province shall be
driven out. Civil Government shall immediately be established ; and
Officers shall be appointed to administer the affairs of the several districts.
The Governor General in Council hereby calls on the Inhabitants of
PEGU to submit themselves to the authority, and to confide securely in the
protection of the British Government ; whose power they have seen to be
irresistible, and whose rule is marked by justice and beneficence.
The Governor General in Council, having exacted the reparation he
deems sufficient, desires no further conquest in Burmah, and is willing to
consent that hostilities should cease.
But if the King of Ava shall fail to renew his former relations of
friendship with the British Government ; and if he shall recklessly seek to
dispute its quiet possession of the Province it has now declared to be its
own ; the Governor General in Council will again put forth the power he
holds, and will visit with fall retribution aggressions, which, if they be
persisted in, must of necessity lead to the total subversion of the Burman
State, and to the ruin and exile of the King and his race.

ဣန္ဒြဘုရင်ကပိုမို၍မတောင်းအမှန်ကိုသာတောင်းသည်မှာမြမ္မာရှင်ဘုရင်ကထိုကာလမနာ
မယူငြင်းပယ်သည်အရာမှာလည်း တစုံတခုမဆင်ခြင်မထောက်ထားယူလေသည် ဥစ္စာများကို
လည်းပြန်၍မပေး၊မိမိတိုင်းပြဉ်မပျက်စီးမကွဲးပြားစေရန်နှိမ့်ချသောသဘောနှင့်အထက်ညှည်း
ဆဲလေသောအမှုကို အင်္ဂလိတ်မင်းစိတ်သဘောပြေရှင်းအောင် ကြာမြင့်စွာဆိုင်းငန့် ငြားသော်
လည်းယခုတိုင်မြမ္မာမင်းကစိတ်သဘောမရ။
ထိုကြောင့်အထက်နှိပ်စက်ဖိစီးလေသည် အထွက်နောက်နောင် အထက်ကဲ့သို့အမှုမဖြစ်ရ
အောင်ဣန္ဒြတိုင်းပြည်ကိုစိုးအုပ်ပိုင်ဆိုင်တော်မူသောဘုရင်ကကျော်ညာစေတော်မူသည်ကား၊
ယခုနေ့ကစ၍တလိုင်းနိုင်ငံအလုံးသည်အင်္ဂလိတ်မင်းလက်နက်နိုင်ငံတော်ဖြစ်လေပြီ။
သို့ဖြစ်၍တလိုင်းပြည်တွင်ကျန်ရှိလိုက်သမျှမြမ္မာစစ်သည်တို့ကိုနှင်ထုတ်စေ။၎င်းတိုင်းပြဉ်
ကိုအုပ်စိုးစီရင်ရန်မင်းကြီးမြို့ဝန်မြို့စားအရာရှိတို့ကိုလျင်မြန်စွာခန့်ထားတော်မူလိမ့်မည်။
ပကိုးတိုင်းသူပြည်သားအပေါင်းတို့၊ ယခုအင်္ဂလိတ်မင်းဘုန်းတန်ခိုးအာနုဘော်တော်ကိုအ
ဘယ်သူမျှမဖက်ပြိုင်နှိုင်ကြောင်းကို သင်တို့မျက်မှောက်တွင်ထင်ရှားလေပြီ၊ အင်္ဂလိတ် မင်းတို့
သည်ဖြောင့်မတ်စွာသစ္စာအားဖြင့်လည်းကောင်း၊မေတ္တာအားဖြင့်လည်းကောင်း၊ အုပ်စိုးစီရင်
တော်မူသည်။ထို့ကြောင့်အင်္ဂလိတ်မင်း၊စိုးအုပ်ပိုင်ဆိုင်သည်နှင့်မှီခိုရန်သင်တို့ကိုဣန္ဒြဘုရင်က
ခေါ်ဝေါ်သိမ်းရုံးတော်မူသည်။
ဣန္ဒြရှင်ဘုရင်ကအထက်မြမ္မာတို့ကနှိပ်စက်လေသည်အတွက်၊ယခု တိုက်ခိုက်သိမ်းရုံး၍ယူသောနိုင်ငံ
သဉ်တော်လေပြီဖြစ်၍မြမ္မာနိုင်ငံအလုံးကိုတိုက်ခိုက်သိမ်းပိုက်ယူရန်အလိုမရှိ။ သို့ဖြစ်သော့ကြောင့်
စစ်ငြိမ်းရန်သဘောတော်ရောက်သည်။
သို့ရာတွင်အင်းဝရှင်ဘုရင်သည် အင်္ဂလိတ်မင်းနှင့်အထက်ကဲ့သို့မိတ်သဟာယဖွဲ့ခြင်းကို
မပြုမလုပ်ဘဲအင်္ဂလိတ်မင်းကယခုသိမ်းရုံးပိုင်ဆိုင်တော်မူသောတိုင်းနိုင်ငံများကိုတစုံတခုမြမ္မာ
မင်းကမွှေနှောက်ဖျက်ဆီးလျှင်ဣန္ဒြရှင်ဘုရင်ကမိမိဘုန်းတန်ခိုးတော်ကိုထပ်မံ၍ ထင်ရှားအောင်
ကြီးမားစွာဒါန်ပေးလိမ့်မည်။ ဤကဲ့သို့ဝါကြွားသောစိတ်သဘောနှင့်အစည် မပြတ်တိုက်ခိုက်
ရန်ကြံဖံလျှင်မြမ္မာနိုင်ငံပျက်စီးခြင်းသို့ရောက်ရလိမ့်မည်။၎င်းမြမ္မာရှင်ဘုရင်ဆွေမျိုးတစုတို့ကို
မိမိတိုင်းနိုင်ငံကတခြားတိုင်းပြည်သို့နှင်ထုတ်ခြင်းကိုခံရလိမ့်မည်။
