Ay, koʻnglimda shon oralash uyat bir iz qoldirgʻan
buloqlarning quchogʻi!
Kimlar, kimlar koʻkragingga dovul kabi soldirgʻan,
ay tuzalish oʻchogʻi?

Men bagʻringga shifo istab kelgan yoʻlchi boʻlsam-da,
boshqa narsa izlayman,
U narsani topmagʻuncha charchasam-da, tolsam-da –
koʻkragingda kezarmen…

Men izlagan eski izlar, bilmadimkim, qolgʻanmi? –
yoki oʻchib ketganlar?
Safhalarga oʻrinlashqan „kitoba“lar yolgʻonmi? –
yo – silinib bitganlar?

Tarix uchun yozdirilgʻan „kitoba“lar oʻchmaslar,
oʻchmaguncha koinot!
Tarix bilan oʻrnatilgʻan haykallar ham koʻchmaslar,
koʻchmaguncha mumkinot!

Tarix uchun oʻrnatilgʻan haykallarni koʻrsam men,
shu shifolik sinangda,
Meni emas, yana boshqa bir haykalni koʻrgaysen,
adir yoʻli – zinangda!..
