Yera fresquillina
La nuichi, el romeru
Lloñe de sos campos
Perdióse dafechu,
Y llegó á la bardia
Del floridu güertu
Semadu de flores,
De roses y ensueño.
Echó una tonada
Con gran sentimientu
Pidiendo descansu,
Por Dios, pal so cuerpu;
Caleció á la Ilume,
Tastió de lo aneyo,
Dixo los cantares
Que-i deprendió 'I cielu;
Mentanto á la neña
Que-i tizara 'I fuebu
Tres veces les llárimes
Moyároni el pechu,
Y elli entrastayada
El alma de duelu,
Cantando yos diba:
«L' adiós del romeru.»
Apenes el alba
De lluz y contentu
Rodiara la ería
Afuxó' I romeru,
Como I' arandina
Al llegar l' hibiernu.
Colaron los dis
Y axelóse 'l riegu;
Ñacieron les fueyes,
Esmucióse 'I vientu;
Una mañanina
De sol abriliegu
La neña moría,
Arrecendía el güertu,
Y allá pe los campos
Cantaba 'l romeru.
