Muallim bechora aziz farzandlarimizni kaltak, qamchi yo‘q bahonasi-la besh-o‘n sanalar (5—10 yil) osmonga qaratub, «alif, babazer, bebazer», deb shovqin qildirib-qildirib, bir harf ham o‘quv-yozuv bildirmayincha umrlarini barbod qilib yotmoqg‘a taqviyatgina bo‘ladur. Bolalarni eski maktablar ila jamoalarg‘a taqsim qilib, kelish-ketish, kaltak va qamchi mas’alalarin isloh qilmoqda albatta lozimdur. Lekin o‘qulajak kitoblar — mazkur eski kitoblar, o‘qulajak domlalarida — eski domlalari, maktablarida — eski hasharot uyalari bo‘lduqinda bu mas’alalar ming marotabalar isloh etilsa-da, bekor, behudadur.

Agar vijdon, insof ila muhokama qilsak, tavaqqufsiz va taraddudsiz eski maktablarimizni asoslaridan yiqib, joylariga tartib va intizom bilgan yangi usul domlalarning himoyasida bo‘lgan maktablar vazh etmaki lozimdur. Eski maktabdorlarimiznida dehqonchilik hunarlariga sahv etmak muvofiqi haqiqatdur. Bu so‘zum janobi muallimlarga — eski va yangi domlalarimizga oxirgi so‘zum.

Men o‘zum ham o‘zumg‘a qarashlik o‘nta-o‘n beshta bolalarni eski maktabda hech bahra topmay, behuda yurduqlarina jonim achib, Qozon tarafinda bir muallim jalb edub, maktab qilib verdim. Maktabning kushodig‘a uch oy bo‘lgani yo‘q. Yigirmadan ziyoda kichik bolalar «alif nima?» degan savolina «kaltak» deb javob beruvchilar tamom savodi chiqib, har narsani yozadurg‘on bo‘ldilar. To‘rt-besh va yetti-sakkiz sanalar Qo‘qong‘a yurub, hech narsa bilmagan mullabachalar bitamomihi arabiy mukolamag‘a qodir bo‘lib, har bir kitoblarni mutolaa etadurgon bo‘ldilar. Shul sababdin biz ko‘zumiz ila tajriba qilib, bul o‘qutishga tamom ixlos qildik. Agar Rusiya ilmlarini bilmak darkor bo‘lgan holda, o‘shal maktablarda Rusiya muallimlaridin saqlab, biror dars Rusiya ilm va zabonidan ta’lim berilgan holda ancha naf’ olur edilar.
