Men qochmadim! – Nega meni «qochdi» deb
Yo‘qg‘a muncha shovqin-suron qildingiz?
Quchog‘ini «o‘zlik»iga ochdi deb
Oq ismimga qora zanjir ildingiz?

Men «o‘zlik»dan ko‘pdan beri uzilib,
«Ko‘plik» ichra botib ketgan tanaman.
U «ko‘plik»ning qayg‘usida cho‘zilib,
Quloch otib, suzib yurgan yana men.

Men yangilar o‘lkasidan sinmagan
Bir qanotni taqib olib qo‘zg‘aldim;
Shul yo‘limda yaproqlari so‘lmagan
«Yosh yog‘och»ning soyasida to‘xtaldim.

Ikki ko‘zim yalt-yult etib ko‘kimdan
Tilagimning yulduzini qaraydir.
Chog‘-chog‘ yig‘lab, o‘tib ketib o‘ngimdan
Qora bulut uning yuzin qoplaydir.

Biroq yana uning yuzi ko‘rinib,
Ko‘zlarimni qamashtirib qo‘yadir.
Qilich botib, xanjar dilga urinib,
Unga yana qaysi qarash to‘yadir?

Men qochmadim! – Men tilakni izlayman,
Qanot kuchlik, borgan sari tezlayman!
