The Tanner Sinnott's Fright

A funny story about a brogue-maker named Nicky Hay who was owed money by a tanner named Sinnott.

He decided he would dress up as a ghost one night, meet him on the road home from the alehouse at dark, and get what he was owed back.

Haay - Ah! Thee nayar! Thou knoweth well eenewe fho cham!

Hay - Ah! You liar! You know well enough who I am!

Dows'nt knowe! Cham Nicky Haay!

Don't know! I am Nicky Hay!

Synnote - An faade naame o zaint feight thee dhicke wye?

Sinnott - And what in the name of saints brought you this way?

Hay - Don't you know? I died yesterday morning and I can't go to rest until you give me up this wrapped paper you have in your pocket!

Yith no! Chull taake thee wi mee!

If not! I will take you with me!

Haay - here taake it wi thee!

Hay - here take it with you!

He fled from the scene in an instant.
