Slovenian portal
editCan somebody please add the w:Slovenian language portal to the Main page? Thanks. The text is:
</td> </tr>

Editions
editCan editions in latin from the Latin library be placed, into Wikisource? (they are all in the public domain) And can these editions be adapted to current editions, without violating copyright (e.g. M. Lepidum instead of M'. Lepidum?; see my Dutch translation of the Ann. I 13.2..) --Evil berry 19:23, 11 May 2005 (UTC)
- If they are PD texts, then there is no problem adding them here on Wikisource. I'm not sure about what you mean by "adapted to current editions, without violating copyright". Could you clarify? Zhaladshar 19:31, 11 May 2005 (UTC)
- My question is, if I would change something in the PD-texts (e.g. M. (Marcus) in stead of M'. (Manius), which is now generally accepted as correction of the edition) would this violate the copyright of the authors who proposed this correction (in this case R. Syme)? Because I have mention in my dutch translation of the Annales references to some works that helped me with my translation. It would be handy if the PD-texts can be "updated" to the modern interpretation of the text.--Evil berry
Slovene portal - second time
editThe translation of the introduction at this Main Page should be better. Can someone replace the old text at SL: with: "Dobrodošli na Wikiviru. Projekt služi kot skladišče tistih izvornih besedil, ne glede na jezik, ki so bodisi javna last bodisi objavljeni pod pogoji dovoljenja GNU za rabo proste dokumentacije. Projekt je del fundacije Wikimedia. Pod okriljem te ustanove poteka tudi urejanje Wikipedije, ki je večjezikoven projekt gradnje vsestranske in točne proste enciklopedije."
Thanks very much! --Eleassar777 15:51, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
- The old text has been replaced. Zhaladshar 16:13, 13 May 2005 (UTC)

Latin sentence fragment
editThe Latin text on the main page is fragmentary. I would propose replacing it with:
LA Vicifons te salutat. Vicifons thesaurus est textuum originalium in lingua qualibet, sive in dominio publico, sive sub permissione liberorum documentorum GNU prolati. Situs hic pars est Vicimediæ societatis, inceptus sociatus et fraternus Vicipaediæ; hac Vicipedia conatus est ut encyclopædia libera emendataque præbeatur.

useless main page
editSorry, folks... who created such useless main page? --213.226.190.160 29 June 2005 15:49 (UTC)
- Yes, no one really likes it, but when we move over to subdomains, it will more than likely become a portal to the available subdomains (although, I'm just conjecturing; we haven't really discussed that yet). Zhaladshar June 29, 2005 16:12 (UTC)
Slovak Portal
editHi, can anybody add Slovak main page, please? the text is at Hlavná stránka. Thank you very much.
Correction
editThank you very much for very soon update. I just have made some minor corrections and added the links.
The final text in the main page should be like this, replacing the current text. Thank you very much again.

editMay somebody please add this: "Wikipukyuman allinmi hasmusqaykichik"? Thanks. (Code for quechua is "QU") --Guillermo Romero [@] 23:42, 20 July 2005 (UTC)
Village Pump? Generic place to ask questions?
editIs there an equivalent on here to the Wikipedia Village Pump -- a place to ask generic questions about Wikisource? I can't find one, I've been searching around for 20 minutes. It is very frustrating -- I have absolutely no idea where I am supposed to ask general questions about the project. --Fastfission 00:10, 9 August 2005 (UTC)
- Is this what the Scriptorium is for? This should be labeled a little more explicitly, if that is the case. One should not have to root around looking for such a place. --Fastfission 00:11, 9 August 2005 (UTC)
- Okay, I was "bold" and edited the top of this page accordingly. Hopefully others won't get confused by this in the future! --Fastfission 00:21, 9 August 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, the Scriptorium is the "Village Pump" of Wikisource. I think the ref. to the Scriptorium at the top of this page is a fine idea. --Christian S 07:33, 9 August 2005 (UTC)

Serbian page addition
editThere should be a link to the Serbian main page among the languages. Since the page is locked, it would be nice that administrators add the following:
<tr> <td align="center"> =SR= </td> <td> Добро дошли у Викиизворник. Овај сајт представља оставу изворних текстова на било ком језику који се налазе у јавном власништву, или су издати под ГНУ Лиценцом за слободну документацију. Овај сајт је део Викимедијине задужбине и сестрински је пројекат Википедије, која је вишејезички пројекат за стварање потпуне и тачне енциклопедије са слободним садржајем. </td> </tr>
Thanks in advance. --Dungodung 14:32, 22 August 2005 (UTC)
en.wikisource.org
editWhy on earth would en.wikisource.org redirect to the multilingual portal? Isn't that rather opposite the point of having the en prefix? So that I don't have to wade through a portal and can go straight to my preferred language? What is the rationale behind not having it just like Wikiquote and Wikipedia? 66.72.202.132 12:06, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
- I've clearly missed something over the past week or so. Has there been a discussion where it was said that en.wikisource.org would redirect to the multi portal?| 13:29, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
- Hi. no, there has been no discussion. this decision has been taken by brion. see scriptorium for more. ThomasV 13:35, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

Lara language
editIs it possible to add a portal of an invented artificial language on the main page? The name is Lara language and you can find information (mostly in italian, sorry!) at http://it.geocities.com/alexped/ and at the wikipedia italian and Esperanto page of "lingua Lara". Thank you! --Alexped 18:30, 27 August 2005
- it is in principle possible to add a portal for an artificial language; we already have esperanto. However, the question is: are there works in this language that have been already published elsewhere, and that are in the public domain? we do not publish texts that have not been published before, except if they are translations. ThomasV 16:35, 27 August 2005 (UTC)
I have many works in Lara language and the biggest is the complete translation of the Book of Mark (New Testament). The full text is on the web-site I mentioned above, together with the translation of a Russian tale by A.Tolstoi. --Alexped 18:45, 27 August 2005
- all right, so I guess these texts are eligible for wikisource. just create your portal and I will add it to the main page. note that the main page will be relooked soon. ThomasV 16:53, 27 August 2005 (UTC)
Sorry, how can I create my portal? Simply creating new pages with these two translations or what? TY --Alexped 18:58, 27 August 2005
edit Main Page:Lara. you may choose another name.
I've done. TY again. --Alexped 19:20, 27 August 2005
