- We, the people of the United States,
- exercising our inherent sovereignty,
- mindful of our responsibility towards creation and towards future generations,
- in the knowledge that only those who use their freedom remain free, and that the strength of a nation is measured by the welfare of its weakest members,
- and in order to:
- constitute a Government that shall embody our ideals and aspirations;
- promote and perfect the enduring federation of existing states, territories, and districts;
- build a just and humane society;
- establish Justice;
- ensure domestic Tranquility;
- provide for the common defence;
- promote the general Welfare;
- conserve and develop our patrimony;
- and secure to ourselves and our Posterity the blessings of liberty, democracy and independence under the rule of law, and a regime of truth, justice, freedom, love, equality, and peace,
- do hereby ordain, establish, promulgate, adopt, enact, and give to ourselves this new constitution for the United States of America.
