Wikisource talk:Community Portal
Overview of the changes
editJust a quick overview on what I have done. The page has been majorly overhauled, in short the changes include:
- Some links were removed as they were not relevant to Wikisource.
- Some attempt at categorising the different tasks has been made.
- The community sections will be removed from the main page as they belong on the community page now.
I accept that as a wiki this page will probably have many revisions over the next few days as we tweak it. A lot of maintenance pages do not exist, or have no procedures for their use like the 'pedia counterpart. Feedback welcomed :) GregRobson 8 July 2005 22:26 (UTC)
- Yes, the procedures do need to be written down. I'm currently working on the protection policy right now, as it is becoming very integral to get it written down--LadyInGrey has already started protecting pages, and people need to know why it is happening. But there are so many documents we need to write up. It's very overwhelming right now. | 8 July 2005 22:58 (UTC)
Just a thought, since this is a portal for active members of the community, the "Current and requested texts" and "Improve and maintain" sections are the most important parts of the page. They should be front and center. Maybe we could move the contents of the requested and improve sections to their own pages and then include them in the community portal via template tricks {{msgnw:Requested texts}} or something so that there are small clean pages where active users can go to find tasks without wading through all the intro stuff. - Yes, definitely something to think about once we get all the maintenance pages up and running. GregRobson 9 July 2005 06:42 (UTC)
Good job ! May need twicking, but it's already much better that it was. Yann 20:53, 9 July 2005 (UTC)

Question
editHi there! I was setting up an account here to be of some help,, but noticed it doesnt work for the language subdomains. Then I wonder, what is the point of starting an account here in the first place? Is the top-level just a shell for the lower levels? Why isnt it linked? I'll probably want to add stuff in English, and occasionally in Dutch; so what accounts should I create?
And, consequently, perhaps it might be worth it to streamline the accounts so that one single account works on different subdomains?
Cheers! The Minister of War 12:46, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- Aha, I just see that the Scriptorium is the actual Portal for the Community. Confusing. I'll post it there. The Minister of War 12:54, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Header issues
editThe header before the four boxes is incorrect, listing sections that do not exist and not listing sections that do. Maybe someone could fix that, and re-add the sections that don't exist if they are valuable. Just a thought. --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 00:02, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
To sysops: please delete Category:Years as well as Category:1850s . I replaced this with Category: Даты & Category:1850-е годы for the project: Category: Русскій языкъ ~ Dmitrismirnov 09:39, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
