Three old pages that belonged to the spanish old-WS. All dead end, nothing links them (just two user discussion pages)...:

Volapük deletions Jan 2007

I'm restructuring the Volapük texts here, and I'd like to request a few old pages (redirects and superseded categories) to be deleted. I've already changed the links to these pages so that they now point to the new versions/pages. Assuming here is the place for posting deletion requests, here is the list:

Thanks in advance! --Smeira 19:02, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
red ones are done, -jkb- 07:53, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Here's another one:

By the way, I had also proposed the deletion of the following pages a while ago (because I actually made a single file out of them -- they're all one book), but they haven't been deleted yet. I'll list them again here.

--Smeira 16:08, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

done up to here; go ahead, i have created some 100x more pages than I have deleted, so I can continue quite well :-)... -jkb- 17:46, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I've been inspired by the kind of organization I saw in other wikisources, and I felt like improving my collection of Volapük texts. (My dream is to actually have the whole Volapük literature on Wikisource, which is feasible: the main corpus is closed and not unbearably large, though it certainly will take at least several years).

Now here's another deletion list:

Thanks again in advance! --Smeira 17:58, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now Category:Nolav is empty and can be deleted. Category:Dalebüd is also ready for deletion (everything in it was transferred to Category:Dalebüds, so as to keep Category names plural). Thanks in advance! --SmeiraBot 21:08, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another category to delete: Category:Tiäd-G (which has become Category:Tiäds-G, in the plural, to follow the same style as all other title categories). Thanks in advance! --Smeira 11:09, 1 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Here's a few more pages (now redirects) to delete:

Thanks! --Smeira 18:18, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are right, it is a little confusion - delete should be a template for speedy deletion, not for something like voting or something between... may be you could post a question at the Scriptorium. -jkb- 10:53, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Other pages for speedy deletion:
Potü yubüp balsayelik vpa (the title had a spelling mistake: potü instead of pötü.)
G. Brignone (I've found out what the first name of this author was -- Gustavo and transfered the content to Gustavo Brignone).

Thanks in advance! --Smeira 07:13, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another page for speedy deletion:
Volapükamuf bü Tumyel Lafik -- I changed the title to be all in lowercase; this page is now a redirect.

Thanks! --Smeira 12:25, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yet a few more pages to delete:
Mosteps Volapüka
Pened Volapükanes de Cifal: ‚Jakob Sprenger‛
Penede hiela J. Schwindl gasede: Volapükabled Tälik 1
Arnaldo Marin

You must be getting tired... --Smeira 22:35, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Yann 00:16, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here are new pages to delete:
Liko Jetje päkidof
Volapük in Milano
Marin Arnaldo

Thanks again! --Smeira 21:56, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here's two more:
Thaddäus Dévidé
Pened hiela A. de Jong söle: Gunnar Ljusterdal (1951-01-22) Thanks! --Smeira 13:44, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yet another one (it never ends...)
Category:Volapükisten: Volapükagased Svedik

Thanks!--Smeira 09:38, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem at all, Sir :-)... I have never found a subdomain where I could delete so many data like here - you are my best customer and I hope you will keep me on in the future as well - where could I find so huge sysop-confirmation??? - -jkb- 15:46, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, here's another to delete one just in case you thought I had forgotten you: Spod Volapükik :-). Actually, if I just planned things a bit better there'd be fewer pages to delete. But, as I was entering this text from one journal -- a 19th-century journal for Volapükists titled "Volapük" -- I didn't notice that the text titled "Spod Volapükik" (Volapük Mail) was actually a section that repeated itself in every issue -- so I have a number of "Spod Volapükik"s, each from a different issue of the same journal. Oh well, so let's rename it Spod Volapükik (1) and delete the previous one...). Maybe things will slow down in the next week or so: I have to take care of my day job (Volapük and the Volapük wikisource are, after all, only unpaid hobbies...) It's nice working with you; thanks for the support! Lots of sysop-fun for you! --Smeira 23:51, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some of them did have articles until they were moved out of here to language subdomains. I am unsure if we should transwiki these talks to correct subdomains to better comply with GFDL.--Jusjih 15:15, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I guess it can be deleted. I saw some 20 or 30 pages - they contain no information, nothing, therefore they have not been moved probably; some pages are quite empty. I support deleting. -jkb- 15:16, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's with some sadness that I report the following pages for deletion: Elot Zahir, Rosad hiela Paracelsus, Mieds, Poedan stetom fami okik, Deutänapüke, and Jorge Luis Borges. These are all translations of famous stories by Jorge Luis Borges (I was the translator), published in the little Volapük Newsletter: Vög Volapüka. As User:555 said, these translations certainly fall within the definition of derivative work of a non-public-domain source. I tried to get in touch with the current holder of Borges' copyright, his widow, but after months and months and several e-mails I got no answer. In order to respect the spirit of Wikisource, I think these have to go. Sigh. --Smeira 11:27, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

main page of the would-be "Siberian" wikisource. "Siberian" is a private :conlang, created by the Tomsk-based blogger Yaroslav Zolotaryov. The "Siberian" Wikipedia has already been deleted, see m:SIB-DEL, the "Siberian" texts should also be removed asap, they are non-encyclopaedic, partly offensive, mostly original works by Zolotaryov or unsourced
First, before I delete a main page I would like to know some other opinions, although I know the history of this language domain (and I am for the deletion), and secondly, we must decide waht will happen with the pages in the category Category:Siberian. -jkb- 17:29, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sib.wikipedia was moved to a new home, maybe we can ask Yaroslav there if he wants to keep the texts and then move them to that home. --Ooswesthoesbes 06:22, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Most of the texts appear to be Zolotaryov's original works, therefore they are without any value for Wikisource, including several chapters of the bible and the (already deleted) "Siberian" version of the Nazi anthem w:Horst-Wessel-Lied (was: Horst Wessel.
There are a few texts, which appear to be historic, even though their attribution as "Siberian" is false, e.g Берестяны грамоты, which cites some ancient Novgoridian w:Birch bark documents.. However, these are just as unsourced as the others. Additionally, captions and explanations are in the nonexistent "Siberian language", which also diminishes their value for Wikisource. If anyone is really motivated to identify those parts which can safely be kept - please go ahead. I am not. And since Zolotaryov's latest project, a Russian language Wikipedia fork called "Wikislavia" seems to have developed into a playground of Russian nationalists, homophobics, racists and anti-semites (it is now part of the infamous "metapedia" family of Wikis), I feel that asking for his permission before deleting his cruft is more than he deserves. --Johannes Rohr 14:52, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I do not aks for the permission of Z., as I said, I followed the discussion a bit. I wanted to know the opinion of some colleagues here what to do with it: it concerns not only the deletion of the main page but - even - all the texts here. OK, I will start to delete all of it in say 48 hours if no colleague from here protests. I will probably make something like a list of deleted pages. -jkb- 15:51, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, no offense intended. I was actually referring to the above suggestion made by Ooswesthoesbes, who proposed to contact Zolotaryov. O.k., he wasn't proposing to ask for permission either, therefore sorry for causing confusion. --Johannes Rohr 16:02, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to see those texts deleted. 1. Siberian is not a real language. 2. Those texts have no Wikisource content. 3. Those texts are unsourced. 4. (a more personal argument) It's written in Cyrillic, which I find a very ugly writing. But informing him is the least you can do, just being polite and then throw all the texts away. --Ooswesthoesbes 16:00, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, ok, no confussion... but just before I delete here a domain I would like to hear from somebody - ok, guy, go on :-)... -jkb- 16:04, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I will start tomorrow. -jkb- 17:27, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This was moved to s:Wikisource:Letters; it seems reasonable that the Multilingual Wikisource still has a need for an index like this.
I think we work out what Surat Khalifah Ali is. It was contributed by 219.95.159.111, and it appears to have come from (see deletion logs. I'll leave a message on . John Vandenberg 10:37, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you're asking what the letter is, it was written by the Muslim Caliph Ali to Malik al-Ashtar on the latter's appointment as Governor of Egypt in 655. It offers primarily advice on treating normal citizens, non-Muslims, the poor, as well as on trade, financial issues, consensus in decision making and communion with God among others. On the letter's importance in history and Islam, we will have to consult a Muslim user. I have asked other admins in Malay Wikipedia to post their opinions. -Yk Yk Yk 11:07, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As written above by Yk Yk Yk, the letter is quite important and widely discussed among muslim scholar. However, I have not gone through it in detail, but at first glance, it seems quite a close translation. Referance in English as follow:- [1], [2], [3], [4]. Yosri 11:26, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have placed it into Category:Malay. Do you know what language the original letter was written in?
If I understand correctly, this is a Malay translation - in which case it has a new copyright whenever the translation was done. Is it possible to see whether the translation was done on ms.WP? It is not likely, as someone probably copied it into ms.WP, but maybe it was translated by a trusted member of the ms.WP community, in which case it could be covered by the GFDL. If the translation was done by someone outside of ms.WP, then we need to find out who is the translator, and ask them to release their translation into the public domain, or license it under the GFDL. John Vandenberg 11:52, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The original language would most probably be in Arabic. More Yahoo search as follow:- http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=Imam+Ali+letter+to+Malik+al-Ashtar+Justice&fr=yfp-t-309&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8 Yosri 12:05, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The letter was originally written in Arabic. I don't believe a regular Malay Wikipedia contributer translated it and uploaded it onto Wikisource. I think it was really an out of the blue contribution. As for the copyright issue, I don't have much knowledge on this aspect. -Yk Yk Yk 12:11, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The first revision says this at the bottom: "Compiled by azry@muamalat.com.my for Branch Managers Handbook". Might ring any bell?

And yes, this might be a copyrighted work.

BTW, all pages written in the Malay language should be put in Category:Bahasa Melayu. Aviator 19:45, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikisource:Letters is just a placeholder I think, to avoid orphaning Surat Khalifah Ali. Regarding the (translation of the) letter itself, muamalat is the name of a bank. Maybe someone can try e-mailing the guy to determine its copyright status. Aurora

I've deleted them all; the smaller images on commons have more than sufficient resolution. John Vandenberg 05:18, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No. Please note we are making a request for an ISO 639 code. --Ooswesthoesbes 15:25, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But this is a problem. First, you should start to post here text after your request has been positively decided. Secondly, do you really think it will be positivelly desicded? I had a look at some links from the main page, and I have a feeling, there are some dozend of people speaking something like a slang, that is all. Sorry if I am not right, I do not wanna be apolite, but... -jkb- 17:30, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Again, a discussion begins to come. 1. I don't know anything of the history of the language, I can only write the language because I have a dictionary. Any questions about these things should go to Jan van Horn. 2. 600 people speak this language. I've got a too cheap dictionary so dozend isn't in it. If you mean dozen I would understand you. 3. I try to make it look like a constructed languages with this site. I don't know if it's constructed or natural. 4. We need a project like Wikisources to view that there is literature in the language to get an ISO 639-code. If you've got any other place I can put it on, you can tell me. --Ooswesthoesbes 07:12, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
