These pages appear to be part of a crosswiki promotional effort by a teenager. I wish him the best with his music career but he shouldn’t be promoting himself here. See also w:Draft:MFDK Music and w:Draft:MFDK Music. Commons uploads by two accounts (User:Mfdkmusic and User:Soundnationrecords) have been deleted by me. Unused after all English works have moved to English Wikisource, should we rename it to "PD-India-CWMG" per en:Template:PD-India-CWMG for any Gandhi's texts written in languages lacking separate Wikisource subdomains, or should we delete it?--Jusjih (talk) 18:19, 4 January 2018 (UTC)
- I'd say, if we know we've got any of such texts, then we can model it after the en.ws template. --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 10:17, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
- We likely have. But IMO {{PD-US-1923-abroad}} should be rather used for them istead of this dedicated template. So I suggest to delete this unused one. Ankry (talk) 12:48, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

- Seems to be an old project, never effectively started, and (IMO) useless after Wikisource split to subdomains. And even for texts stored here, it seems that per-language lists are preferred and better maintaned.

Only Dutch language text moved to Dutch WS Klaas `Z4␟` V: 16:07, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
- @KlaasZ4usV: The preferred way of transfer is importing the page with full history by a target wikisource admin. Is there a reason for not doing it this way? Ankry (talk) 18:34, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
- I am not an admin, so I can not move history. It was so easy my way. Please give me one compelling reason to make life more complicated. Well, the only thing to do is move the history as well. Why this can not be done by a "normal" user? Klaas `Z4␟` V: 05:32, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
- When I was not an admin and needed to import some paages from another wiki, I used to ask stewards for the importer rights. And I do not think this is the right place to ask why MediaWiki / its user rights are designed this way. Ankry (talk) 08:52, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
- Not entirely correct. There are multilingual pages including Dutch, such as In 't Bronsgroen Eikenhout. Still, I think Oud en trouw Roermond can be transwikied to the Dutch Wikisource, as it's not multilingual. --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 10:31, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Ooswesthoesbes: I am unsure which sentence in my previous statement you disagree to (the one about using importer rights or the one concerning MediaWiki design complaints).
- I agree that the right place for the page is Dutch Wikisource. I disagree that just copying the content is the right transfer method. But maybe Duch Wikisource do not care about the initial uploader information or they have no active admins to perform the full transfer. I do not oppose deletion here, I am just expressing my doubts in this matter. Ankry (talk) 10:22, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
- It referred to the statement that it's the only Dutch text here, but that wasn't clearly indicated :) --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 11:04, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry for the confusion: Oud en trouw Roermond was/is the only source in the (non-existent) cat. Dutch so - as seems consensus - should be moved/copied to Wikisource in Nederlands (the Dutch language), right? Contacted one of the four admins directly. Klaas `Z4␟` V: 09:34, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- Yes. However, due to edit history/copyright, it shouldn't be copied, it should be imported. --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 10:57, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- Whatever, has to be done by an admin. We seem to have too few (only four and I wrote on 4 Talk-pages) of them at Dutch Wikisource. Good two of them are bureaucrats ;-) Klaas `Z4␟` V: 05:39, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
- I'll make an import request after I place an announcement at nl.wikisource. --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 07:53, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
- Why the admins make life so complicated for "normal" editors where it can be so much easier if they assume good faith? Klaas `Z4␟` V: 07:37, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
- There seems to be a misunderstanding. You have done nothing wrong. But we cannot delete this page yet, as it is a requirement to keep edit history for copyright reasons :) --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 08:00, 27 July 2018 (UTC)

Done. It has been imported to the Dutch wikisource. --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 11:16, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks to you and Revi. Too bad they don't allow our own admins to perform this. Time and energy lost. Klaas `Z4␟` V: 10:26, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
- I believe it's to be certain that it isn't going to be used wrong. Importing can cause histories of pages to be merged. If a user maliciously imports pages, it is a very difficult task reverting that. For that reason, they tend to keep the pool of importers small and limited to users who know what they're doing. --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 09:53, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

- Yes, these are self-published in printed form. The author is a 18 year old who has a Wikimedia account as well: Shaunak Chakraborty (talk • contribs • global contribs). The author has some of these poems published online on a news portal where they have asked for people to send it in their poetry. Rupa Banerjee (talk • contribs • global contribs) might be a sock-puppet of the author because the user has only added works by this author. But turns out this author has published two ebooks on Amazon as well. I would say we delete these specific works since there is no proof of them being copyright-free. --Satdeep Gill (talk) 04:27, 10 August 2018 (UTC)

editThe purpose of these templates was replaced by parser functions more than ten years ago. These are really just an ugly hack, and I thought they had been eradicated from Wikimedia projects a long time ago, but these still remain (obviously). I have replaced all of their uses, except in a dormant sandbox, and the use in MediaWiki:Proofreadpage index template which I can't edit – but see its talk page for how to replace it there too. Works by Joseph Brodsky
editIf Joseph Brodsky (Russian-American) was born in 1940 and died in 1996, and his poetry is relatively recent, is ჩქიმი სქი რექ ვარ ღორონთი still subject to copyright? In ru.source it seems it is (see tag in ru:Иосиф Александрович Бродский), but I'm not 100% for the deletion here because of his double citizienship. -Aleator 21:51, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
