Wikidata is here!
editHey everyone :)
As previously announced we have just enabled interwiki links via Wikidata for Wikisource. This means from now on you no longer have to maintain the links in the Wikitext but can maintain them together with the links for Wikipedia, Commons and Wikivoyage on Wikidata. You will still be able to keep them locally though if you want to. Local interwiki links will overwrite the ones from Wikidata. You do not yet have access to the other data on Wikidata like the date of birth of an author. That will come in a future deployment. I will let you know when I have a date for it.
If you have any questions d:Wikidata:Wikisource is a good first step. It also has a list of people familiar with both Wikisource and Wikidata who are able to help you out. That is also a good place for any issues or bugs you encounter.
I'm really excited to welcome you all to Wikidata! I hope it will become a great help for Wikisource.
Cheers Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:07, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
- No, Wikidata is not here. As usual, oldwikisource, son of a lesser god, has been shamefully forgotten. Bug60069 has been opened about it. Candalua (talk) 09:41, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
- I think part of the problem is that we don't have an ISO code as a prefix. We really ought to be renamed mul.wikisource.org (
mul
being the ISO code for "multilingual"). —Angr 16:13, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

- The problems is not about the name of the project. The problem is more that there is no URL system in place to identify the languages used for sources.
- Would you accept a prefix for every source with the relevant ISO code ? Thanks, GerardM (talk) 21:19, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- The name per se isn't the problem, but the fact that we don't have a prefix before "wikisource.org" the URL probably does contribute to our being forgotten about. I certainly also wouldn't object to having the codes for the languages we host here redirecting here, so that
ga.wikisource.org/wiki/Séadna
would lead straight to Séadna andnrn.wikisource.org/wiki/Fy_vor
would lead straight to Fy vor. However, it would probably be necessary to allow the language codes to redirect to all pages here, even if they're not in the language specified (e.g.ga.wikisource.org/wiki/Fy_vor
would still work), and this trick wouldn't work for the languages we host here that also have their own subdomains, e.g. the members of Category:Polski (which can't be hosted at pl-wikisource because they're still in copyright in Poland), so it will still be good to havemul.wikisource.org/wiki/Encyklopedja_Kościelna/Azja
to take us to Encyklopedja Kościelna/Azja. —Angr 15:15, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

Request for comment on Commons: Should Wikimedia support MP4 video?
editI apologize for this message being only in English. Please translate it if needed to help your community.
The Wikimedia Foundation's multimedia team seeks community guidance on a proposal to support the MP4 video format. This digital video standard is used widely around the world to record, edit and watch videos on mobile phones, desktop computers and home video devices. It is also known as H.264/MPEG-4 or AVC.
Supporting the MP4 format would make it much easier for our users to view and contribute video on Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects -- and video files could be offered in dual formats on our sites, so we could continue to support current open formats (WebM and Ogg Theora).
However, MP4 is a patent-encumbered format, and using a proprietary format would be a departure from our current practice of only supporting open formats on our sites -- even though the licenses appear to have acceptable legal terms, with only a small fee required.
We would appreciate your guidance on whether or not to support MP4. Our Request for Comments presents views both in favor and against MP4 support, based on opinions we’ve heard in our discussions with community and team members.
Please join this RfC -- and share your advice.
All users are welcome to participate, whether you are active on Commons, Wikipedia, other Wikimedia project -- or any site that uses content from our free media repository.
You are also welcome to join tomorrow's Office hours chat on IRC, this Thursday, January 16, at 19:00 UTC, if you would like to discuss this project with our team and other community members.
We look forward to a constructive discussion with you, so we can make a more informed decision together on this important topic. Keegan (WMF) (talk) 06:47, 16 January 2014 (UTC)

Access to data in Wikidata
editHey :)
(Sorry for writing in English. I hope someone can translate this for me where necessary.)
Not long ago we enabled language links via Wikidata for Wikisource. This seems to have gone rather smoothly. Thanks to everyone who helped! But as you know this was only the start. What is actually more interesting is access to the data in Wikidata like the date of birth of an author or the year a book was published. We have planned this for February 25th (unless any issues arise). You will then be able to use the data in your articles. I hope this will open up a lot of new opportunities for you.
If you have any questions d:Wikidata:Wikisource is a good place to find help.
- I was just made aware that global message delivery also posted this here while you're still waiting for language links. Sorry for that. As soon as 2 of my developers are back I will bug them to find out how complicated it is to also support you here and how long it'll probably take. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 15:48, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

Direct copy of a book on tl.wikibooks
editHi,
Doing routine maintenance on a smaller project revealed this book which seems to be in the public domain and not written by the user there. See w:El Filibusterismo. I'm not sure how to import pages like that to Wikisource, and am honestly not sure if it is in the public domain or not, but if you think that it is and import it then I can remove it from tl.wb afterwards.
Thanks, Ajraddatz (talk) 00:27, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
- We're also not sure if it is just the text for the book, or also about interpreting the book. If you reply, please let us know at m:User talk:Ajraddatz or my talk page on Meta. PiRSquared17 (talk) 00:29, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

Universal Language Selector will be enabled by default again on this wiki by 21 February 2014
editOn January 21 2014 the MediaWiki extension Universal Language Selector (ULS) was disabled on this wiki. A new preference was added for logged-in users to turn on ULS. This was done to prevent slow loading of pages due to ULS webfonts, a behaviour that had been observed by the Wikimedia Technical Operations team on some wikis.
We are now ready to enable ULS again. The temporary preference to enable ULS will be removed. A new checkbox has been added to the Language Panel to enable/disable font delivery. This will be unchecked by default for this wiki, but can be selected at any time by the users to enable webfonts. This is an interim solution while we improve the feature of webfonts delivery.
You can read the announcement and the development plan for more information. Apologies for writing this message only in English. Thank you. Runa

You can now access the data on Wikidata
editHey folks,
We have just enabled data access to Wikidata for Wikisource (except old-wikisource). This means you can now access data like the date of birth of an author or the ISBN of a book. You can do this in two ways. The first one is a parser function. You can use it like {{#property:capital}} or {{#property:P36}}. The second one is Lua. The documentation for that is at mw:Extension:WikibaseClient/Lua
If you have any questions you will find help at d:Wikidata:Wikisource and its talk page.
I hope you'll use this to do some kick-ass things on Wikisource ;-)

Call for project ideas: funding is available for community experiments
editI apologize if this message is not in your language. Please help translate it.
Do you have an idea for a project that could improve your community? Individual Engagement Grants from the Wikimedia Foundation help support individuals and small teams to organize experiments for 6 months. You can get funding to try out your idea for online community organizing, outreach, tool-building, or research to help make Wikisource better. In March, we’re looking for new project proposals.
Examples of past Individual Engagement Grant projects:
- Organizing social media for Chinese Wikipedia ($350 for materials)
- Improving gadgets for Visual Editor ($4500 for developers)
- Coordinating access to reliable sources for Wikipedians ($7500 for project management, consultants and materials)
- Building community and strategy for Wikisource (€10000 for organizing and travel)
Proposals are due by 31 March 2014. There are a number of ways to get involved!
Hope to have your participation,

Proposed optional changes to Terms of Use amendment
editWymysorys (wym) language
editIn plwikisource we have few texts (books) that are in Wymysorys (Vilamovian; ISO 639-3 code: wym) language (partially bilingual: Wymysorys-Polish) which in my opinion should belong to multilingual wikisource. What do I need to do to add support for this new language to multilingual wikisource? Ankry (talk) 22:33, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- You would probably need a Main Page and a language category for wym (plus list the main page on {{languages}}). That way there will be somewhere to put the texts. After that, ask an admin to import the texts. - AdamBMorgan (talk) 23:43, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks. Ankry (talk) 22:24, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
I request a bot flag for my bot
- Operator: Ankry
- Purpose: Make massive fixes, mainly template & category fixes after import.
- Script used: Python, pywikipedia.
- Already has the bot flag on: plwikisource, plwiki and commons.
Ankry (talk) 22:25, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hello, Ankry, could you give more precisions about (for instance):
- 1. What will be these fixes,
- 2. Scope (namespace, limitations, and which languages),
- 3. Automated or semi-automated
- 4. Other indications if necessary
- Thanks and regards, --Zyephyrus (talk) 18:10, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
- Ad. 1: That are mainly template translations after migration, namespace renaming, possibly category move, file renaming without leaving a redirect
- Ad. 2: Generally all namespaces, but mainly main and Page; at the moment wym, maybe later also pl language
- Ad. 3: Only semi-automated (under my supervision)
- Ad. 4: I intend to use the bot as a helper, to simplify changes that may by done (semi-)autoamtically faster and with avoidance of typos and omissions.
- Example changes are here. If you wish I can do the changes further without the bot flag. However, possibility to avoid captcha would be nice. Regards, Ankry (talk) 19:51, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
- Support --Zyephyrus (talk) 21:26, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- As it takes so long time to process my request, I already did the work manually. So the bot rights are no longer needed.
- Please, treat this request as withdrawn. Ankry (talk) 16:46, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
Just to let you know that I opened a "stub" page about Internet Archive - Wikisource relationships, to share a recent, ongoing experience of it.wikisource. Alex brollo (talk) 14:11, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Changes to the default site typography coming soon
editThis week, the typography on Wikimedia sites will be updated for all readers and editors who use the default "Vector" skin. This change will involve new serif fonts for some headings, small tweaks to body content fonts, text size, text color, and spacing between elements. The schedule is:
- April 1st: non-Wikipedia projects will see this change live
- April 3rd: Wikipedias will see this change live
This change is very similar to the "Typography Update" Beta Feature that has been available on Wikimedia projects since November 2013. After several rounds of testing and with feedback from the community, this Beta Feature will be disabled and successful aspects enabled in the default site appearance. Users who are logged in may still choose to use another skin, or alter their personal CSS, if they prefer a different appearance. Local common CSS styles will also apply as normal, for issues with local styles and scripts that impact all users.

Temporary bot+sysop flag request
editbe.wikisource and gu.wikisource have been created back in 2012, but this wiki still hosts theirs incubator pages: Category:Беларуская (1,5k pages) and Category:Gujarati (1k pages). In order to help cleaning things out, I'm asking for temporary bot+sysop flags on User:Delete.Bot, an alternate account that I've managed to do mass deletions and restorations on pt.wikisource in the past years. Any objections? Lugusto (talk) 23:48, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

Media Viewer
edit
Greetings, my apologies for writing in English.
I wanted to let you know that Media Viewer will be released to this wiki in the coming weeks. Media Viewer allows readers of Wikimedia projects to have an enhanced view of files without having to visit the file page, but with more detail than a thumbnail. You can try Media Viewer out now by turning it on in your Beta Features. If you do not enjoy Media Viewer or if it interferes with your work after it is turned on you will be able to disable Media Viewer as well in your preferences. I invite you to share what you think about Media Viewer and how it can be made better in the future.
Thank you for your time. - Keegan (WMF) 21:29, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

Media Viewer is now live on this wiki
edit
Greetings,
The Wikimedia Foundation's Multimedia team is happy to announce that Media Viewer was just released on this site today.
Media Viewer displays images in larger size when you click on their thumbnails, to provide a better viewing experience. Users can now view images faster and more clearly, without having to jump to separate pages — and its user interface is more intuitive, offering easy access to full-resolution images and information, with links to the file repository for editing. The tool has been tested extensively across all Wikimedia wikis over the past six months as a Beta Feature and has been released to the largest Wikipedias, all language Wikisources, and the English Wikivoyage already.
If you do not like this feature, you can easily turn it off by clicking on "Disable Media Viewer" at the bottom of the screen, pulling up the information panel (or in your your preferences) whether you have an account or not. Learn more in this Media Viewer Help page.
Please let us know if you have any questions or comments about Media Viewer. You are invited to share your feedback in this discussion on MediaWiki.org in any language, to help improve this feature. You are also welcome to take this quick survey in English, en français, o español.
We hope you enjoy Media Viewer. Many thanks to all the community members who helped make it possible. - Fabrice Florin (WMF) (talk) 21:54, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Guidance transcribing my first book
editLinks I'm transcribing en:The Autobiography of a Catholic Anarchist by en:Author:Ammon Hennacy now and I've inserted links into the text essentially to serve as explanatory notes without interfering with the flow of text itself. I realize that proper annotations belong on Wikibooks but is it generally considered a good idea to make internal links in documents here? E.g. when someone who is an author here is mentioned, I'll add an Author: link; the same goes for a work that is hosted here. But if there is an event, I'll link to a Wikipedia article or a possibly confusing term, I'll link to Wiktionary. Thoughts? —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 19:37, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
- Here is en.Wikisource answer:
- User annotated versions of works on Wikisource must:
- Be clearly marked as annotated by Wikisource.
- Have an unannotated "clean text" elsewhere on Wikisource.
- Maintain neutrality and objectivity in all annotations.
- More elaborately annotated works may be created on Wikisource's sister project Wikibooks.
- Works that have been published elsewhere with annotations may be deannotated on English Wikisource, subject to certain restrictions.
- Does this suit you?
- Regards, --Zyephyrus (talk) 22:03, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
- @Zyephyrus: I saw that documentation already but I thought that it referred to new text put into the document, such as footnotes. I'm not changing the text itself, just adding links inside of it. Does that make sense? —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 00:06, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- Perhaps something might be done with this? Is it possible? Would it solve the problem? --Zyephyrus (talk) 08:25, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- @Zyephyrus: I can't understand what that does. Can you show me an example? Thanks. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 16:58, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

You can find screenshots here. --Zyephyrus (talk) 17:44, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
- @Zyephyrus: That looks good but maybe not enough--e.g. I'd like to include maps or maybe audio/video recordings. I've just decided to start b:Annotations to The Autobiography of a Catholic Anarchist. Thanks, though! —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 00:40, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
Transfer to commons
editGood morning. As you may have seen I have parked here some books I wanted to save from my library that may require some investigation to determine if they are in the public domain in Italy (source country). Those books are certainly in the public domain in the US for various reasons. Those are (e.g.):
- Published in the US <1923 with compliance (in the Copyright Entries register).
- Published before 1909 abroad
- (also) I have the question on what should I do for books that are in the public domain in Italy (when I am not sure if they are the US)
How do I proceed with the transfer? I am not sure if in commons they will be accepted. At the moment I upload those here and I add some wording to every book I upload. Thanks a lot. --C.R. (talk) 06:15, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- @C.R.: Books which are not public domain (or CC-BY, CC-BY-SA, or GNUFDL) in the United States cannot be uploaded to Commons. They may be public domain in Canada, in which case, you can upload them to wikilivres:Main Page. This site acts as a combination of Commons and Wikisource for public domain in Canada media. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 06:19, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- Italian copyright expiration See w:en:List of countries' copyright lengths. I don't know if the EU has some law which supersedes this. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 06:22, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot @Koavf: - Justin. I need to filter all the material and leave here only the ones that are in PD in Italy as well as in the US. I'll be happy to proceed with all the works that may be wrongly placed here... now I am aware of this. Sorry for the mistake. Do you know how can I transfer complex sets of work (e.g. -here the author died in 1928- 1, 2, etc... ) to wikilivres?. By the other hand, any ideas on the works that are PD in the US and still need to be clarified in Italy?... where can I park those books so anybody can use them in the US? (I imagine if some of them were registered in the US they were originally meant to be used there as well). Thanks!--C.R. (talk) 11:22, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
- @C.R.: Happy to help! Wikilivres uses similar technology to Wikisource, so uploading is more-or-less the same. I'm not sure of any works that would be PD in the States but not Italy, nor am I sure how to determine whether they are PD in Italy. If they were on Wikilivres, then they would definitely be accessible to Americans. I recommend adding links to Wikilivres from Wikimedia projects as well, to give readers greater access to them. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 00:45, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

editHello,
while working on Paul Verlaine on Wikidata, I found : Category:Поль Вэрлен and be:Катэгорыя:Поль_Вэрлен, which should be merged, as it seems... or is there something I don't get ?
If you want to contact me, thanks to do it on my fr page, as I don't get here very often. :) --Hsarrazin (talk) 06:53, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
Letter petitioning WMF to reverse recent decisions
editThe Wikimedia Foundation recently created a new feature, "superprotect" status. The purpose is to prevent pages from being edited by elected administrators -- but permitting WMF staff to edit them. It has been put to use in only one case: to protect the deployment of the Media Viewer software on German Wikipedia, in defiance of a clear decision of that community to disable the feature by default, unless users decide to enable it.
If you oppose these actions, please add your name to this letter. If you know non-Wikimedians who support our vision for the free sharing of knowledge, and would like to add their names to the list, please ask them to sign an identical version of the letter on change.org.
Process ideas for software development
edit
Hello,
I am notifying you that a brainstorming session has been started on Meta to help the Wikimedia Foundation increase and better affect community participation in software development across all wiki projects. Basically, how can you be more involved in helping to create features on Wikimedia projects? We are inviting all interested users to voice their ideas on how communities can be more involved and informed in the product development process at the Wikimedia Foundation.
I and the rest of my team welcome you to participate. We hope to see you on Meta.

Change in renaming process
editThe process involves changing all rename processes into one global renaming process. The ability for local bureaucrats to rename users on this wiki will be turned off on Monday, 15 September 2014, as one of the first steps. Global renamers are in the process of being created to make sure projects and languages are represented by the time this occurs. I sent a note to every bureaucrat about this process three weeks ago with an invitation to participate and many have begun requesting to be a part of the group. Together with the stewards, the global renamers will be empowered to help editors work through the often difficult process of getting a global name.
In parting, visit Special:MergeAccount to unify your account if you have never done so. If your local pages about renaming still need to be updated, please do so and consider pointing people to m:SRUC for future rename requests, especially if this project does not have bureaucrats that hold global renamer permissions. If you have any questions, you can read more on the help page on Meta. You can also follow the technical progress on mediawiki.org. Contact me on Meta any time with questions as well. Thank you for your time.OCR not available on multilingual Wikisource?
editI do not see the OCR button on any transcription page even though the "Disable OCR button in Page: namespace" option is unchecked under my preferences. I tried using different browsers, but to no avail. Do I have to do something to enable the OCR feature, or is it not available on this wiki? --Ixfd64 (talk) 19:23, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Uploads and UploadWizard
editHello! It was noted that on this wiki there is little community activity around uploads: less than 50 deletions actions in namespace File last year.
I guess this wiki doesn't have the interest or energies to maintain complex templates and metadata, especially for EDP files. I propose to
- send users to commons:Special:UploadWizard from the sidebar and
- limit local "Upload file" to the "Administrators" group (for any emergency uploads),
so that no new work is needed on this wiki and all users can have a functioning, easy upload interface in their own language. All registered users can upload on Commons.
All this will be done around 2014-09-30.
- If you disagree with the proposal, just remove this wiki from the list.
- To make the UploadWizard even better, please tell your experience and ideas on commons:Commons:Upload Wizard feedback.
- In all cases, existing files will not be affected, but everyone is welcome to join m:File metadata cleanup drive. The goal is to give better credit to the authors who provided us their works.

- slightly oppose: if there are some licence problems on commons, so the files should stay here; more over, filesd for the wikisources are something else like photos for wikipedias - they are documents that (mostly) should not be changed even if the uality is not high. On commons there is a huge amount of tough users hurriing around and changing everything they think to be changed, also cropped versions etc. On commons you would need an army of users who controll all the documents for wikisource the whole time. Here it is more or less secure (sure: supposed, they are well categorized, the licence is OK etc.). -jkb- (talk) 11:40, 14 November 2014 (UTC)

Applying lang attributes
editHi,
This wiki has content in multiple languages. Technically, however, this is a wiki with English content, because MediaWiki doesn't have a proper structure way to mark the language of a page.
Because of the technical limitation, all pages have lang="en" on the main content element. This causes bugs such as https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70929 , and probably others.
As a hack, the correct language attribute could be set in a user script by checking whether the page belongs to a language-based category. I tried doing something like this in User:Amire80/common.js. It's far from robust, and because I am not a frequent user of the multilingual Wikisource, I may be missing something important, but it's a first little step.
If a reasonably robust way to do it is found, it should be probably be added to the site's common.js.
Thanks for any help with this. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 06:12, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks Amir for posting this. I would like to draw attention of sysop Angr (talk • contribs • global contribs) once again to look into this matter. Announcement — mul: interwiki now exists
editIt quietly happened in the mediawiki release last week git #f0d86f92 - Add additional interwiki links as requested in various bugs (bug 16962, bug 21915) that the mul: interwiki has appeared for the wikisources to be able to point to wikisource.org. So the other wikis can now do mul:Scriptorium/Archives/2014 and it appears in interwiki links as "More languages". We will have a number of places, especially in the project namespace where we need to do some additions.
I am in the process of spreading this marvellous news to the broader community. I would like to thank @This, that and the other, Tim Starling: for their coding and review to get this through and to @Rdicerb (WMF): for listening to thoughts about Wikisources' place in the WMF-sphere. Now to see how we can get mul: working for Wikidata. billinghurst sDrewth 03:41, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
- In case anyone is wondering on en.ws, using an interwiki link such as "[[mul:XXX]]" creates the text "More languages" in the sidebar. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 03:46, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
- Big big thanks to all the makers of this! --Zyephyrus (talk) 06:59, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
- This is indeed good news. It took years, but now at least something is being done to improve this long-forgotten place and make it fully functional. Anyway, it seems that from Wikidata it's not yet possible to add a link to "mul"... so in the end we are still "one step behind", as always :D Candalua (talk) 12:09, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

Meta RfCs on two new global groups
editThere are currently requests for comment open on meta to create two new global groups. The first is a group for members of the OTRS permissions queue, which would grant them autopatrolled rights on all wikis except those who opt-out. That proposal can be found at m:Requests for comment/Creation of a global OTRS-permissions user group. The second is a group for Wikimedia Commons admins and OTRS agents to view deleted file pages through the 'viewdeletedfile' right on all wikis except those who opt-out. The second proposal can be found at m:Requests for comment/Global file deletion review.
We would like to hear what you think on both proposals. Both are in English; if you wanted to translate them into your native language that would also be appreciated.
It is possible for individual projects to opt-out, so that users in those groups do not have any additional rights on those projects. To do this please start a local discussion, and if there is consensus you can request to opt-out of either or both at m:Stewards' noticeboard.

Global AbuseFilter
editAbuseFilter is a MediaWiki extension used to detect likely abusive behavior patterns, like pattern vandalism and spam. In 2013, Global AbuseFilters were enabled on a limited set of wikis including Meta-Wiki, MediaWiki.org, Wikispecies and (in early 2014) all the "small wikis". Recently, global abuse filters were enabled on "medium sized wikis" as well. These filters are currently managed by stewards on Meta-Wiki and have shown to be very effective in preventing mass spam attacks across Wikimedia projects. However, there is currently no policy on how the global AbuseFilters will be managed although there are proposals. There is an ongoing request for comment on policy governing the use of the global AbuseFilters. In the meantime, specific wikis can opt out of using the global AbuseFilter. These wikis can simply add a request to this list on Meta-Wiki. More details can be found on this page at Meta-Wiki. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on m:Talk:Global AbuseFilter.
Thanks,

Search engine visibility of wikisource content question
editHi, I am wondering why wikisource content is not at the top of search results. I have this experience from my language search results but I doubt there will be much difference in different language search results. Why does major search engine after input of exact name of a book, that is fully published on wikisource gives instead of a link to the books text here on wikisource (which I would expect since I didnt state "where to buy exact name of the book or something else) some other results such as bookshops to buy it and articles on the author etc. I know that exact algorhytms for ranking pages are known only to employees of the search engine companies, but I wonder if there is any information publicly known about this "problem". Thanks. --Wesalius (talk) 15:02, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
